If you are using a Samsung Galaxy S22, S22 Plus, or S22 Ultra, you might want to hold off on updating your software.
In a recent update shared on his channel, tech reviewer Mikael Mueen warns Samsung users after his own Galaxy S22 was bricked following a recent software patch. What started as a reliable device quickly turned into a useless brick.
What Happens When the Phone Fails?
According to the video, the issue follows a specific pattern before the device breaks down completely [01:30]:
- Extreme Heating & Slowdowns: The phone suddenly becomes extremely sluggish and reaches unusually high temperatures.
- Bootlooping: Soon after heating up, the phone enters an endless bootloop, restarting repeatedly without properly booting into the operating system.
- Temporary Starts: Even after cooling down, the phone might turn back on briefly—for around 30 seconds—before falling right back into the loop.
This indicates possible internal hardware damage triggered by thermal pressure or software incompatibilities brought on by the update.

- Samsung Galaxy S22
- Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus
- Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra
(Note: Other lineups like the S21, S23, S24, or S25 series do not appear to be affected by this specific issue)
What Should You Do?
- Do Not Update: If you haven’t installed the latest software update on your S22 series phone, pause auto-updates immediately.
- Downgrade Firmware: If you’ve already installed the update but haven’t experienced severe hardware damage yet, consider downgrading your system software using tools like Odin [01:18].
- Seek Repair: If your phone is already stuck in a continuous bootloop, physical repair or motherboard servicing may be required.
